Pelecaniformes

The Great White Pelican invades Lake Hefner ... why?
Are they migrating? Where'd they come from?
I learned later - they left the Gulf of Mexico - they use to hang around offshore drilling rigs until some BP workers wanted to have some fun and scare off the pelicans ... the rest is history.
I spoke to Gerald, pelican ... "I want my life back BP"

I tried to sneak up closer to The Great White Pelican flock ... bobbing and a ducking and a sneaking  ... closer, closer ... getting within range, easy, easy, easy go, dave ...my good luck, these birds aren't so smart, they're all loafing on the sand bar. Oh, NO, the alarm is sounded. I try to calm the group with a few toots of my new duck call.

I must have said something bad in mallard to upset the group ... I'm not an expert, but I thought ducks and pelicans co-existed ... let me say a little more ...

Guys, guys, guys ... calm down, don't leave. Here ... lookie, I've got a fish in the bucket.

Fine, leave. Suit yourself.

Flight. Noisy, big flight.

Some more reserved ...

Naw, we're all a leaving.

Get'er in glide mode.

Cool group ... Gerald saved Nimo, remember?

Bigger flock.

Ships outta the mud.

Takes a lot of fish to feed the birds.

Looking for Din Din.

Reeling in the little one.

I got the little one. Thanks mr. pelican, stay as long as you want at Lake Hefner!!!
