It's hard to imagine the fear and fright flying this bomber at night, in terrible stormy weather over Nazi Germany with anti-aircraft flak going on all around you, the darkness illuminated by the turbulence of exploding shells, the noise and smoke in the plane of fifty caliber machine guns trying to fend off enemy fighters trying to kill you. Seeing your best buddies plane being shot down knowing it could've been you. Dropping your bombs; returning home safely.
Only to fly another mission the next day.
